ESDC’s First Diplomatic Skills course from 21-25 June 2021 in Timisoara, Romania
ESDC’s pilot edition of the Diplomatic Skills course for CSDP missions took place in Timisoara, Romania, from 21-25 June 2021 and was organised by West University of Timisoara and Romanian MFA under the aegis of ESDC. The activity was also supported by other prestigious entities, such as EGMONT Institute (BE), Vienna Diplomatic Academy (AT), Diplomatic Institute (RO) and University of Oxford (UK).
The course took place in residential format and had a number of 28 participants from EU Member states and international organisations, with either civilian, military, diplomatic or research background. This course which is the first of its kind in ESDC’s portfolio, had a blended approach on topics related to international relations and geopolitics, basic principles of diplomacy, international security context and strategic competition, EU Global Strategy as well as EU civilian and military missions. The organisers and lecturers encouraged the active participation of the participants, while most presentations had a high level of interactivity and involvement.
This activity is the first one (the basic level) related to Diplomatic Skills & CSDP missions, while the (next level) Advanced Diplomatic Skills course is envisaged for late October in Brussels, Belgium.
