Course on Data Governance, 7-9 November 2022, Brussels
It is a great honour for the European Security and Defence College that co-organized for the first time this important activity from 7 to 9 November 2022 with the Irish Defence Forces.
Cybersecurity poses a continual threat to EU citizens, organizations and states. A robust data governance program is required to protect our personal data and mitigate these threats. A fundamental part of a data governance program is education and awareness as it must inform stakeholders of the regulatory and non-regulatory methods available to mitigate online threats. Moreover, increased awareness of data protection and more structured approach through data governance will assist the required whole-of-society responses to cybersecurity.
This course presents the mechanism for effective Data Governance and outlines the seven critical factors for effective Strategy Execution: strategy, shared values, structure, systems, style, staff and skills.
Furthermore, this course allows the mid-ranking to senior officials to exchange their views and share best practices on data governance linked with cyber-related topics, hence improving their knowledge, skills and competencies. By the end of this course, the participants will be able to create and implement a Data Governance Strategy, including a Data Protection Programme, drawing on their enhanced knowledge and understanding of the relevant principles. It also provides an opportunity to develop a support network among like minded individuals within your area or sector.
The participants of this course are mid-level to senior officials (civilian and military) employed in the field of cyber security from MS, EU Institutions Bodies and Agencies (Information Security Officers, Data Controllers, Data Protection Officers, Risk Management Officers, Compliance Officer, Directors).
