ESDC course on the comprehensive protection of civilians (CPOC)
The Austrian Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (ASPR) hosted the ESDC course on the comprehensive protection of civilians (CPOC) in Vienna from 11 to 15 November 2019.
The course included 31 participants from 21 countries, working as civilian experts or with the police or military, who are preparing for or already work with peace missions or complex emergencies.
Ensuring the full protection of civilian populations in armed conflict is part of the comprehensive approach of the EU and the UN. In coherence with this approach, the course offers a high-level international trainer team from the ASPR, UN Department of Peace Operations (DPO), UN Standing Police Capacity and UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva, among other senior trainers, combining civilian, police and military expertise.
The ASPR will run the next CPOC course under the auspices of the ESDC in February 2020 and is currently accepting applications. To apply and for additional information, please write to pichler@aspr.ac.at for the course package.
