The 8th edition of the ESDC Alumni Seminar – A stronger Europe in a World of Challenges
On the 20th and the 21st of February 2020, the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) and the EU Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) organised the 8th edition of the annual ESDC Alumni Seminar in Brussels.
The event was held under the auspices of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and provided the grounds for discussions on the current challenges the European Union is facing and the impact of training activities on the efficiency and effectiveness of the CSDP Missions and Operations.
Since the creation of ESDC, more than 30 000 participants have taken part in the courses organised by the College, among others the CSDP High-Level, EU Senior Mission Leaders, LEGAD, Advanced Modular Training, Advanced POLAD courses. A considerable part of the graduates of the leadership courses are today in leading positions in the security and defence field at national and international level. The ESDC Alumni Seminar enabled an opportunity for the participants to network, brainstorm and debate on the current risks and threats Europe is facing, and promote the values and the work ESDC does in the area of CSDP.
The participants had the opportunity to meet former colleagues, share their experience and learn about the new developments of the CSDP in the context of several debates on the current challenges the Europe is facing in 2020 and the impact of training activities on the efficiency of the CSDP Missions and Operations.
