CSDP Conflict Analysis Course, From Conflict Analysis to Integrated Action, 4-8 April 2022, Maynooth University, Ireland
The European Security and Defence College (ESDC) had the honour of co-organising, with Maynooth University in Ireland, the ‘CSDP Conflict Analysis Course, From Conflict Analysis to Integrated Action’. The course was held online from 4 to 8 April 2022 with active participation by the course members, and it had excellent outcomes.
The course opened with remarks delivered by Dr Kieran Doyle, professor and Assistant Director of the Edward M Kennedy Institute for Conflict Intervention at Maynooth University. The first day continued with an introductory presentation of some of the critical issues that are present in most conflict situations and which need to be addressed in conflict analysis.
In the afternoon, the course members broke into groups and worked together on a scenario-based exercise that resulted in a very enriching experience.
In the following days, course participants had the opportunity to engage with experts and work together on different topics, including gender and conflicts. They also learnt how to identify opportunities for conflict prevention and that conflict analysis is therefore a critical contributor to sensitivity in the EU’s response to conflict.
