Despite COVID-19, ESDC celebrates its 15th anniversary within the frame of the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the generous support of the Representation of the State of Hessen to the European Union.
Due to corona virus related restrictions, the event was held in form of a live stream opened by Mr Niels Annen, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office and Mr Josep Borrell, High Representative of the EU and Vice President of the EC.
Longstanding partners, friends and former colleagues who witnessed and contributed to the development of the ESDC as to what it represents today, shared their personal impressions over the last 15 years. Beginning with Mr Hans-Bernhard Weisserth, founding Head of the ESDC, personalities such as Lieutenant General Demokritos Zervakis, Ambassador Sofie From-Emmesberger, Mr Petteri Taitto, Rear Admiral Jürgen Ehle, Ambassador Sorin Ducaru, Ambassador Annemieke Verrijp, Rear Admiral Fabio Agostino, Mr Wolfgang Röhrig and Brigadier General Dorin Plescan testified their personal commitment to the college.
As already practised during the 5th and 10th anniversary, ESDC awarded two honorary fellowships to General retired Michail Kostarakos and Dr Antonio Missiroli for their loyal support to the college. The laudations were hold by Mr Joao Barbedo and Prof Dr Sven Biscop.
The ESDC expresses its gratitude to everybody who has contributed to the realisation of this unforgettable event in such extraordinary times as we are currently experiencing.
Last but not least, do not forget to download our anniversary publication
