Team and Conflict Management training held for EULEX mission members in Pristina, Kosovo from 3 to 6 December 2024
The ESDC had the privilege to co-organise a training entitled Team and Conflict Management in Peace Operations – Working in and Leading Multicultural Teams alongside the Center for International Peace Operation (ZIF), German Federal Police Academy (GFPA) and EULEX Kosovo.
The training took place in Emerald Hotel in Pristina from 3-6 December 2024. Eleven EULEX staff, six females and five males, all serving in different team leader positions in the Mission, participated in the training.
The training aimed to increase the effectiveness and performance of teams in crisis management. It focused on the role of the leaders and the competences needed; intercultural communication, conflict management, leadership as well as team and trust-building skills.
Markus Feilke, one of the trainers, saw clear benefits conducting the training in the mission area “Having the entire participant group working in the same organisation allowed the training to be tailored to the context and current challenges they are facing in their various team leader roles.”
His co-trainer Predrag Tapavicki fills in “With so much experience in the group our role is to facilitate the discussions, to offers participants the opportunity to test, reflect upon and further develop their competences in leadership, teamwork and ability to manage and resolve conflicts.”
ESDC Training Manager Isak Enstrom was pleased with the outcome “I am very happy that we were able to run this training together with EULEX Kosovo. I want to sincerely thank the German expert trainers from ZIF and GFPA and all EULEX staff involved in the planning and organisation. This was an excellent display of partnership, utilising the training expertise in the ESDC network, responding to training needs in one of our CSDP missions.”
