CSDP Orientation Course Brussels, Belgium, 19 to 23 June 2023
‘Training and education are key tools to be used in supporting the implementation of the new CSDP Civilian Compact. Training civilian experts, military personnel and diplomats by further developing their understanding of the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union is essential to create a platform designed to further and harmonise cooperation among people working in the field of CSDP with different experience and expertise to share. Courses like the CSDP Orientation course must be seen as the right place where mutual understanding about issues facing the EU starts.’
The CSDP Orientation Course, organised under the aegis of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), in cooperation with the Romanian College of Home Affairs (CNAI), took place in Brussels from 19 to 23 June 2023.
The aim of the CSDP Orientation Course is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union, its complex structure and decision-making process, its crisis-management procedures and crisis-response mechanism, and its integrated approach to external conflicts and crises.
The course started with the keynote speech, given by the Romanian Ambassador to the Political and Security Committee, Calin Ungur, from the Permanent Representation of Romania to the EU. The ambassador underlined the importance of organising courses under the aegis of the ESDC and stressed that this has the full support of Romania.
