Integrated Border Management (IBM) course, Kilkis-Greece, 31 October – 04 November 2022
The European Security and Defence College (ESDC) had the honour of co-organising the Integrated Border Management (IBM) course together with the Hellenic Multinational Peace Support Operations Training Center (MPSOTC).
The course was successfully held in Kilkis, Greece, between 31 October and 4 November 2022, with active participation and excellent outcomes. The aim of the course was to familiarise military/law-enforcement officers and civil servants from EU institutions, relevant agencies and Member States with the IBM concept and its implementation both within CSDP missions and at national level in the EU MS.
The first day of the course was dedicated to IBM legislation and border agencies’ roles, responsibilities and organisational structures.
The second day’s main theme was risk analysis methods. The third day was dedicated to interagency cooperation, IBM as part of CSDP Missions and Operations, hybrid threats, technology solutions and good practices.
The fourth day was dedicated to group works relating to case studies and contemporary issues concerning IBM.
We would like to thank all the keynote speakers for their excellent contributions and the very high quality speeches and lectures they provided.
The content of the presentations and the extremely relevant topics addressed relating to crisis management triggered very fruitful discussions between the participants and the experts.
