Advanced Diplomatic Skills on Security and Defence (Pilot Course), Brussels,25-28 October 2021
Under the auspices of European Security and Defence College, the West University of Timisoara (RO) and Royal Institute for International Relations – EGMONT (BE) are organising the first edition (pilot) of the Advanced Diplomatic Skills on Security and Defence. The full residential activity reunites 24 participants (police, defence, diplomacy, civilians) from EU Member States, EU Missions, UN and academic environment.
The course itself is a new project of ESDC. Following the successful Basic level of the Diplomatic skills for CSDP Missions course, held in Romania in June 2021, and responding to identified training needs, the advanced course aims to deepen existing knowledge in the area of diplomacy, to tackle sensitive topics related to the role, the place and the need for diplomacy and diplomatic skills within the context of different security . The emphasis is placed more on interactive sessions between key players already involved in such activities, sharing experiences and „good practice” examples from the field. Cultural and sensitive topics related to what it is and what it is not advisable to do, will also be covered.
