Advanced’ course, 10 – 13 March 2025, Sibiu, Romania
The European Security and Defence College (ESDC) had the honor of co-organizing the ’Sectoral Qualifications Framework for the Military Officer Profession (SQF-MILOF) Advanced’ pilot course in collaboration with the Land Forces Academy (LFA), Romania. The course took place successfully from 10 to 13 March 2025 in Sibiu, bringing together a highly engaged and diverse group of participants. The SQF-MILOF is designed to help Member States develop and classify military qualifications by describing specific learning outcomes for the military officer profession. As such, it serves as an interface or ‘translation tool’ among the education and training opportunities offered in different countries, making it possible to compare different programs.
The course was a Train of trainer’s event aiming to provide the future trainers with the skills and knowledge to disseminate the concepts and philosophy of SQF-MILOF. A highlight of the program was the practical case study exercise, in which participants tackled a realistic scenario, formulating and presenting real lessons on how to teach the future specialists on this specific topic.
The course attracted a diverse and gender-balanced audience, with the majority of participants being specialists from Defense Ministries, Defense and Security Universities and Training directorates of all branches of the Armed Forces represented by the participating EU member states that have already started the process of levelling the military educational process in their own countries.
