On 15 May 2024 the EU CyberNet project hosted, in cooperation with the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments and the European External Service Action (EEAS), the annual Cyber Project Community (CPC) meeting in Brussels. The aim of the meeting was to offer fora for EU-funded cyber project implementers and the EU institutions to meet and discuss issues of common interest, policy and programming and also to share operational information on cyber-related project activities.
The meeting covered key updates in policy and programming by the EEAS; the European Commission Directorate-Generals for International Partnerships (DG INTPA), Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT); Europol; the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA); FPI; the Council of Europe; Expertise France (ESIWA Project); the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS); Knowledge Hub Digital; the e-Governance Academy and the Digital for Development (D4D) Hub.
Giuseppe Zuffanti, the Coordinator for Cyber Issues and for the Cyber ETEE Platform of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), the main EU-level entity mandated to provide training and education on security and defence, presented the ESDC’s vision of training and education in the cyber domain. The ESDC currently offers more than 40 cyber curricula and trains nearly 1000 personnel in the area of cybersecurity and cyberdefence.
A session focused on the current situation regarding the application of AI in the field of cybersecurity and the ethical and secure deployment of AI technologies was also held.
