The Civilian Aspects of EU Crisis Management Course in Brussels, 21-23 May 2024
The Civilian Aspects of EU Crisis Management Course took place in Brussels from 21-23 May 2024. Co-organised by the Portuguese National Defence Institute (IDN) and the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), this intensive training brought together 17 dedicated participants from various EU member states and EU institutions.
Throughout the course, participants explored the intricacies of crisis management and analysed the civilian viewpoints and strategies that are critical to effective response and resolution. Topics ranged from civilian crisis response and civilian planning to the integrated approach, and horizontal issues such as gender mainstreaming and human rights, as well as justice and home affairs cooperation, with each aspect comprehensively addressed by experienced EU officials.
The exchange of knowledge and experiences among participants enriched the learning environment, fostering a deeper understanding of EU civilian crisis management dynamics.
Congratulations to all participants for their dedication and engagement, and for the National Defence Institute of Portugal for organising another edition of this important course. A special thank you to all the speakers for their valuable contributions to this training.
