Visit of the Operation Commander of EUNAVFOR MED – operation IRINI, Rear Admiral Fabio Agostini at the ESDC

The operation commander of EUNAVFOR MED – operation IRINI,  Rear Admiral Fabio Agostini, visited the ESDC on 10 September. As a former CSDP High-Level Course participant, the Admiral was very interested in the course offer of the ESDC, in particular the on-line course and potentially also the pre-deployment training and orientation course.

One of the challenges the operation is facing, according to the Admiral, is namely a lack of knowledge on how the EU functions even by people in certain core-functions. In his view, the College would be ideally placed to help overcome this shortfall. The Head of the College drew the attention on an agreement reached recently with the EEAS administration, allowing all EEAS staff and staff from CSDP missions and operations access to the on-line offer of the College.

The solution has already been implemented for all EEAS and EU Delegations personnel, and by the end of the present year all resources will also be made available to all CSDP Missions and Operations personnel.
